Hurricane Irma Timeline

Sept. 13, 2017, 1 p.m. Operations After Hurricane Irma

September 13, 2017, 3 p.m. - The Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick and Camden campus hospitals and Emergency Care Centers have remained open and operational through and in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

A few exceptions:

• Cooperative Healthcare Services, Inc./Southeast Georgia Physician Associates physician practices, including our Immediate Care Centers, are closed today/Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017. The circumstances will be closely monitored to allow us to reopen these practices as soon as possible.

• Elective surgeries, endoscopy procedures and elective cardiac catheterization services originally scheduled for today/Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 will be rescheduled; we expect to provide these elective services starting Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017.

• Outpatient laboratory and radiology are being offered on a limited basis today/Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017; we expect to provide full services beginning Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017.

• Cancer Care Center services including Infusion are being provided to scheduled patients today/Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017.

• FREE Prostate Screenings scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 and Thursday, Sept. 13, 2017 have been canceled and will be rescheduled for a future date.

In advance of the storm, and in the interest of safety of their vulnerable residents, our Senior Care Centers in Brunswick and St. Marys arranged to transfer their residents to other facilities away from the coast. Those relocated residents will return when authorized by local emergency management officials.

We extend our deepest gratitude to those team members, medical staff and partners - including emergency medical services - for their tireless efforts during and in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. As our community begins recovery efforts, the Health System remains ready to support the health care needs of the community.

Sept. 5, 2017; 5:00 p.m.

At Southeast Georgia Health System, the health and safety of our patients, team members and community is our top priority. At this time, the only thing certain about Hurricane Irma is that it exists and we are prepared for it. If we fall within the path of Irma, it will be a few days from now. The best of weather forecasters, from the National Hurricane Center, cannot make a reliable forecast about this particular storm at this point. There will be major changes to the forecasted track over the next couple of days, so it is important not to overreact to any single forecast.

As of now, we are at our lowest level of emergency preparedness. This means we are monitoring and assessing this potential storm in collaboration with the county emergency management agencies. There are no changes to the Health System’s normal operations and we will continue to provide outstanding care to the communities we serve.

The Health System reminds community residents that the hospitals are NOT shelter locations. Individuals seeking shelter are directed to refer to their county emergency management agency shelter locations.

How to Stay Informed
Below is a list of resources to help you stay informed before, during and after any potential storm. These resources have been activated.

Website (sghs.org): We have created a Hurricane webpage, sghs.org/hurricane, that patients and visitors, team members, volunteers and physicians can click for more details.

Media (Radio, Print): Updates will be sent to local media outlets as needed.

Social Media: Updates will be provided on the Health System’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/SGHScares).

Before

How You Should Prepare for a Hurricane or Storm
