The da Vinci Surgical System can improve urological surgical experience
Our board-certified urologists provide the latest minimally invasive techniques
using the
da Vinci® Surgical System. In addition to reduced blood loss, lower risk of infection and a shorter
hospital stay, the potential benefits of
da Vinci urology surgery include:
- More precise removal of cancerous tissue where cancer is present
- Fewer days requiring a catheter
- Faster return of erectile function
- Faster return of proper urinary function
- Reduced risk of nerve and rectum injury
- Faster recovery and return to normal activities
Complex urologic procedures made easy
The
da Vinci can be used for many complex urologic procedures using small keyhole incisions,
including:
- Adrenalectomy (removal of the adrenal glands)
- Bladder diverticulectomy (removal of large, weakened portion of the bladder)
- Cystectomy and radical cystectomy (bladder cancer)
- Nephrectomy (kidney removal)
- Partial nephrectomy (removal of only cancerous tumor and not the entire
kidney; can be done through small incisions in the abdomen or going through
the back depending on location of tumor in the kidney)
- Pyleloplasty (kidney reconstruction)
- Prostatectomy (prostate removal)
- Ureteral repair
- RPLND (retroperitoneal lymph node dissection for certain patients with
testicular cancer)

Surgery Made Simple
Healthy Partners, Fall 2015
Surgery used to mean months of recovery time, a weeklong hospital stay
and substantial pain. But not anymore. Today, doctors can use new tools
and techniques that have you home the next day, back to work the next
week and fully recovered the next month—if not sooner.
