Concussion Management
How well you recover from a concussion determines your quality of life
at home, work, school and sports – today and in the future. Your
symptoms may be minor or serious, but one thing is certain: you need a
doctor who understands how to help you heal. Our concussion management expert,
Lindsey Sweat, M.D., is a certified ImPACT® consultant, which allows her to provide innovative
concussion assessments.

What is ImPACT?
ImPACT is a quantitative tool to establish baselines for brain functions,
such as reaction time, memory processing and other abilities. Historically,
concussion management was very subjective, based on a patient’s
symptoms. The benefit of ImPACT is that it gives your physician actual
numbers to compare brain function before and after a head injury.
Am I a candidate for concussion management?
Anyone diagnosed with a concussion is a candidate for concussion management,
from local athletes to car accident victims. During their first appointment,
patients can expect to receive general education about concussions as
well as individualized treatment which takes into account their medical
history, such as depression, ADHD or other pre-existing neurological conditions,
that may potentially make their concussion symptoms more severe. As a
former athlete and current sports enthusiast, Dr. Sweat brings compassion
and expertise to Camden County.
