Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Neurosurgery
Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Neurosurgery is a strategic affiliate
of Southeast Georgia Health System. Neurosurgeons primarily provide surgical
treatment for patients with spine problems, spinal cord injuries and disorders,
and peripheral nerve and brain conditions. Although many patients in need
of a neurosurgeon experience neck and back pain, others may experience
pain in other parts of their body or exhibit additional symptoms, such
as dizziness, a tingling sensation or numbness, a sharp, “electrical”
sensation, and muscle weakness. Seeing a neurosurgeon can help determine
the cause of your symptoms. They can develop a surgical and/or treatment
plan to meet your needs and address your individual conditions.

Easing the Pain of Spinal Stenosis
Healthy Partners, Fall 2021
The human spine is an engineering marvel. It keeps us upright and moving,
without pain, most of the time. But a potentially debilitating condition
called spinal stenosis can change all of that, making movements like standing
or walking very painful. What is spinal stenosis? Spinal stenosis occurs
when the spinal canal narrows, compressing the spinal cord and nerve roots,
explains Justin Whitlow, M.D., a board-certified neurosurgeon with Southeast
Georgia Physician Associates–Neurosurgery.
