Imaging and Radiology Services
Medical Imaging allows health care professionals to see inside the body
to diagnose and treat certain conditions. Southeast Georgia Health System
offers high-quality, cost-effective and comprehensive diagnostic and interventional
radiology services in a caring and compassionate environment.
The Health System uses PACS (Picture Archive Communication System), the
latest imaging technology, at all of our locations to capture, store,
retrieve and distribute digital images instead of film. This technology
offers several advantages:
- Physicians and radiologists have instant access to the images.
- Digital images can be viewed at any designated computer station within
the hospital or at remote locations, such as physician offices via secure
web connections.
- Because images are digital, film-related cost and storage issues are eliminated.
American College of Radiology
Our imaging locations are accredited by the American College of Radiology
(ACR). The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement
of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice.
Image quality and procedure evaluations are conducted by board-certified
radiologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field. The
program also evaluates personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility
equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
The ACR accredits facilities in: Breast ultrasound, stereotactic breast
biopsy, computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI),
mammography, nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET), ultrasound,
and radiation oncology.
When you choose an ACR-accredited facility, you know:
- Your center has voluntarily gone through a rigorous review process to be
sure it meets nationally-accepted standards
- The personnel are well qualified, through education and certification,
to perform and interpret your medical images and administer your radiation
therapy treatments
- The equipment is appropriate for the test or treatment you will receive,
and the facility meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines
As with other accreditations, it must be periodically re-evaluated to ensure
that protocols and standards are consistently maintained.

No More Claustrophobia!
Healthy Partners, Summer 2021
Receiving a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam can cause anxiety for
patients who are fearful of tight, enclosed spaces. But that may no longer
be the case at the Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus. Patients
can now look forward to a more comfortable, roomier experience, thanks
to advanced imaging technology recently acquired by the Health System.
