and noncancerous tumors. This comfortable, noninvasive method allows qualifying

that offers this advanced procedure and the only center in Georgia to
offer the CyberKnife M6 series. We are committed to raising the bar in
health care and embracing the technological advances that enable us to
better serve you and the communities we serve. With this innovative technology,
our team of cancer experts help you fight against cancer, restoring your
health more efficiently and with less pain.
What to Expect during CyberKnife Treatment
The first step of CyberKnife treatment involves taking detailed images
of the patient. Whether through a CT scan, an MRI or a PET scan, the size,
shape and location of the tumor must be determined. Once this information
is obtained, the tumor’s parameters are digitally transferred to
the overseeing physician via the CyberKnife treatment planning workstation.
CyberKnife software then aids the physician in generating a treatment
plan that aims to destroy the patient’s tumor while sparing surrounding
healthy tissue.
A CyberKnife treatment involves the following:
- You will lie on a table that naturally positions you to properly receive
CyberKnife treatment.
- Beams of high-dose radiation are aimed at the tumor with pinpoint accuracy.
- 100-200 radiation beams, each only lasting a few seconds, will target the
tumor from all sides.
- Each therapy treatment is noninvasive and will generally last between 20
to 25 minutes, delivered in one to five consecutive days.
While many radiosurgery procedures are only capable of treating head tumors,
CyberKnife can target tumors throughout the entire body, allowing the
effective treatment of a variety of noncancerous and cancerous tumors,
including lung cancer, prostate cancer, abdomen cancers, brain cancer,
cancer of the spine and more. No matter your diagnosis, our team of cancer
specialists is interested in meeting you and discovering how they can
help. We are here for you through every step of your battle with cancer,
but the first step is up to you.
