Southeast Georgia Health System Clinical Engineer Receives "Best of the Best" Award from GE

Thomas McKenzieJuly 20, 2018 – Thomas McKenzie, manager, Clinical Engineering, Southeast Georgia Health System, is the proud recipient of GE’s quarterly Best of the Best Award. Through GE’s Best of the Best program, managers nominate team members who demonstrate enthusiasm, serve as role models for teaming, generate new and creative ideas, and do everything necessary to enable customer success. Best of the Best recipients are then eligible to win the annual Thomas E. Dunham award, an honor of which McKenzie was previously nominated.

“I am humbled and honored by this award,” says McKenzie. “Everything I do is only possible because of the Health System’s team mentality. Everyone works together, and in my experience, that is always a winning combination. Our success here is truly a team effort.”

McKenzie received the Best of the Best Award in recognition of his focus on customer service excellence. He recently helped facilitate a closure and installation of a telemetry/monitoring conversion and has championed a complete adoption and immaculate execution of the 5S system, a GE program that prepares the biomed shops for Joint Commission. His service also played a pivotal role in building customer confidence which helped gain a multi-year contract renewal, and thanks to his expertise, the Biomed team’s site PRIDE audit resulted in the highest score on record.

In additional to these accomplishments, McKenzie’s work met with stringent requirements, including consistently meeting metrics; keeping an up-to-date accreditation manual, the test equipment calibration current, and the shop well organized; tagging equipment with statuses; removing excess parts, paperwork and manuals; replacing expired chemicals and batteries; and leading customers in solutions.

McKenzie was born and raised in Brunswick, Ga. and he has worked at the Health System for more than twenty-four years.
