Southeast Georgia Health System has launched, “Dr. Beau Sasser’s
Sports Medicine Blog,” an online forum dedicated to educating the
community on current sports medicine practices. Beau Sasser, M.D., board-certified
orthopaedic
surgeon, Summit Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery, is the blog’s
featured author.
Blog followers can look forward to a wide range of sports medicine topic
discussions, including tips on healthy living, training tips for a 5K
and the impact athletic trainers have on the safety and health of
student athletes
.
“My focus is not only to provide sports medicine and wellness information
in understandable terms,” says Sasser, “but also to open a
conversational forum to answer questions and utilize those questions as
a springboard for future topics.”
A native of Glynn County and a graduate of Glynn Academy, Sasser received
his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia where
he also completed both his internship and
orthopaedic
residency. Following his residency, Sasser received exclusive sports medicine
training while in a fellowship program with the Kansas City Orthopaedic
Institute. During this time, he worked with the NFL’s Kansas City
Chiefs, treating a variety of sports and
orthopaedic
injuries incurred by these elite athletes. Sasser returned to Glynn County
in 2005 and joined Summit Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery.
