BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Feb . 2, 2012– February is around the corner—a
time when we celebrate Valentine’s Day, as well as Heart Health
Month. This year, give yourself or someone you love a true gift from the
heart—heart health screenings. According to the American Heart Association,
cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of Americans, claiming
the lives of more than 36 percent of the more than 2.4 million people
who die each year in the United States. To combat this disease, it is
important to get regular heart health screenings. That is why each February
Southeast Georgia Health System offers low-cost heart health screenings.
When:
- Monday, Feb. 20, 7 a.m.-2 p.m.
Two Locations:
- Brunswick Campus, Linda S. Pinson Conference Center, 2415 Parkwood Drive
- Camden Campus, 2nd Floor, 2000 Dan Proctor Drive, St. Marys
Screenings include:
- Lipid Profile (12-hour fasting is necessary)
- Blood Glucose Testing
- Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Pulse Oximetry (a test for oxygen in the blood)
- Height and Weight
- Blood Pressure
Blood Pressure Additional educational information about heart disease,
tobacco cessation, diabetes, and sleep disorders will also be available.
A board certified physician will interpret all EKG results. Each participant
will receive all of his or her results in the mail. The cost is $35 per
person and cash, credit cards or checks will be accepted. Gift cards for
Heart Health Day screenings are now available for purchase in the Health
System’s Brunswick and Camden campus gift shops. Appointments are
