BRUNSWICK, Georgia: April 23, 2010 –Too much sun can cause conditions
from the benign, but not so attractive “age” spots, to the
deadly—melanoma. Getting regular skin checks is vital to good health,
especially for those who have spent years in the sun with little or no
sunscreen. This is why Southeast Georgia Health System is pleased to host
“SKINTASTIC Saturday” on May 22 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the
Linda S. Pinson Conference Center at the Health System’s Brunswick
Campus, 2415 Parkwood Drive. This free drop-in event will offer skin screenings,
education and much more.
Physicians and other medical professionals from Atlantic Shore Dermatology,
Brunswick Dermatology, Golden Isles Center for Plastic Surgery, Renue
Plastic Surgery, and Summit Plastic Surgery will be on hand to provide
free skin screenings. They will also be available to answer questions
and provide information on services and products they offer to help you
look your best, such as Fraxel® laser treatment, microdermabrasion,
chemical peels, laser treatments, varicose vein removal, and more.
Other free testing available during the event will include bone density,
blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, as well as grip strength and
flexibility testing. Representatives from areas throughout the Health
System, such as the Cancer Care Center, Breast Care Center, Outpatient
Rehabilitation Care Center, Wound Care Center and the Joint Replacement
Center, will be on hand with educational materials and giveaways, as will
the American Cancer Society.
In addition to health screenings, representatives from area fitness centers
and gyms will provide on-site massages, as well as giveaways, discount
coupons, and drawings for services and products. Free refreshments will
also be offered, including a selection of McDonald’s iced coffees.
