Southeast Georgia Health System Honors Brunswick Campus Volunteers During National Volunteer Week, April 19-25, 2009

BRUNSWICK, Georgia: May 1, 2009 – Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus volunteers were honored at the annual Volunteer Week Luncheon on Thursday, April 23, in the Linda S. Pinson Conference Center. The Health System recognized its Brunswick Campus volunteers—members of the Auxiliary, Pet Therapy Program, Health System Foundation Board, Glynn-Brunswick Memorial Hospital Authority, the Cooperative Healthcare Services, Inc. Board, Ministerial Alliance, and members of the First Steps program. The Brunswick Campus Volunteens were also honored with their own pizza and bowling party at The Strike Zone on April 29.

During the luncheon celebration, Connie Johnson, a member of the Auxiliary, was named the recipient of the Phyllis S. Tollison Volunteer of the Year Award. Johnson volunteers in Human Resources, the Gift Shop, and Administration, as well as for various fundraisers throughout the year.

“Our volunteers help make our Health System a regional leader in healthcare services,” Colberg says. “They are irreplaceable members of our Health System team and make all of our jobs easier with their hard work and dedication and each of them brings joy to our patients, visitors, and team members.”

According to Kristin Doll, director of Volunteer Services, the Auxiliary alone volunteered a total of 25,270 hours last year. “While the value of our volunteers is priceless, the estimated dollar value of those hours of service is $517,792,” Doll says. “Volunteers fulfill a vital role in meeting our mission of service and their continued dedication has been instrumental in helping us achieve greater levels of service each and every year.”
