Notice of Privacy Practices
The United States government established a law called the Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”) of 1996. The
law is intended to provide standard privacy and security protections for
your medical information.
The
Notice of Privacy Practices, located below explains how we use and maintain your medical information.
It is used by the Southeast Georgia Health System and its affiliates,
together with their health care professionals; staff and volunteers; members
of the Medical Staff; those participating in managed care networks with
the Health System; and other legal entities that provide services to the
Health System.
You will be asked to sign a form acknowledging that you have had an opportunity
to receive this Notice and to ask questions regarding its contents. Signing
this Acknowledgment form in no way affects the care you will receive.
