When Bob Davis was diagnosed with prostate cancer, he faced a difficult
decision — either have surgery to remove his prostate or face a
long series of radiation treatments with lingering side effects. He began
looking for an alternative.
A friend recommended CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery at the Southeast
Georgia Health System Cancer Care Center on the Brunswick Campus. Bob
was intrigued by the idea that CyberKnife treatment is noninvasive and
has minimal side effects.
After meeting with Timothy A. Jamieson, M.D., Ph.D., board-certified radiation
oncologist and medical director, Cancer Care Centers, Bob was convinced.
"The more I learned about it, it just became a no-brainer,"
he says."I could have f ive treatments as opposed to 40, with no
side effects or recovery time."
Bob and his wife stayed with friends on St. Simons Island during his week
of treatment. "I went in every morning at 8 a.m. and was done by
9:30 a.m. The doctor came by every day to see how I was doing."
Bob is now back to his regular routine and feeling great. "I'm
so glad I chose to go with CyberKnife," he says. "I want people
to know about this treatment option and what a positive experience it
can be."
