Linda Pinson is very familiar with Southeast Georgia Health System, having
served on the board of the Glynn-Brunswick Memorial Hospital Authority
for 12 years and as chairperson for seven years.
In January 2011, she became familiar with the Health System on a new level
when a stubborn wound on her foot was diagnosed as staph infection. After
spending 11 days in the hospital on intravenous antibiotics, Linda had
to complete 40 daily hyperbaric oxygen treatments at the Wound Care Center,
each lasting 90 minutes.
Of the Wound Care Center team she says, "The hyperbaric technician
was a very kind person. He just made everyone who came in feel wonderful.
The same can be said of the rest of the team."
Today, Linda's wound is completely healed and she is on a mission to
make sure everyone knows about this "undiscovered gem" in our
community. " I have found that many people are unaware that we have
a Wound Care Center in Brunswick. I want everyone to know they don't
have to go to Jacksonville or Savannah for hyperbaric treatment,"
she says. "I don't think I could have done it if I had to go
out of town."
