The Glynn County Police department has temporarily closed the St. Simons Causeway and parts of Hwy 17 (near the causeway). This is due to water extending into the travel lanes in both directions. We expect this closure to be for a very short length of time and that the causeway will reopen as soon as the tide recedes. The Sidney Lanier Bridge will be closed by GA DOT effective Thursday, Sept. 29 at 9:00 a.m. This closure will remain in effect for the duration of the storm and pending a post storm inspection by the DOT. Please make your route plans accordingly, including additional travel time as appropriate.
