Angela Highbaugh-Battle, MD, FAAP, was appointed president of the
Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (GAAAP) on July 1, 2022. Dr. Highbaugh-Battle is a board-certified pediatrician with
Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Pediatrics in St. Marys, Georgia.
As president of GAAAP, Dr. Highbaugh-Battle represents 1,800 pediatricians
across the state and has the opportunity to interact directly with state
agencies charged with providing health care services to children. She
will also seek strategic partnerships to advance the health of children
and promote excellence in pediatric care.
“Over the course of my two-year term, I hope to work actively with
our elected and appointed state officials to create legislation that supports
the health and safety of the children of Georgia,” says Dr. Highbaugh-Battle.
“Additionally, I intend to address the needs of rural physicians
in order to enhance access to pediatricians in rural portions of the state.
Lastly, I plan to develop measures to support the mental health of children
and their caregivers.”
Dr. Highbaugh-Battle earned her medical degree from Morehouse College School
of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed her residency at Emory
University in Atlanta. She’s committed to her patients and their
families, providing them with the help and support needed to maintain
or improve their child’s health. In her free time, Dr. Highbaugh-Battle
enjoys spending time with her husband and children at local festivals
and adding to their family coin collection.
