Late last week, I alerted you to the impending federal vaccination mandate.
As an organization that receives Medicare and Medicaid payments, we are
subject to the CMS mandate which is generally more restrictive than the
OSHA regulations. As you learn more about the mandate, it is important
that you understand this distinction and recognize that which is expected
of us as health care workers.
By now you must know how important I believe it is for our team members
to take advantage of the COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves and those
around them. I understand that this may be a difficult decision for some
of you, but the fact of the matter is, as health care workers we are held
to a higher standard to protect the health of others by ensuring that
we are protected from the virus.
We are evaluating the federal vaccination mandate requirements, and further
details will be forthcoming about the process and timing for those of
you who may choose to apply for a medical or religious exemption.
If you’ve already gotten the vaccine, I extend my deep appreciation.
For those who have not, I urge you to do so as a commitment to our patients
and community, and your colleagues.
