Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors.
With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products
must be constantly replenished, according to the American Red Cross. More
donors, especially those with type O negative, A negative and B negative,
are needed to ensure lifesaving blood products are available for emergencies
and everyday medical treatments.
To help fill the need, Southeast Georgia Health System will partner with
the American Red Cross to host a community blood drive on Friday, July
23, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., in the Kemble Conference Room, 3011 Kemble Avenue,
adjacent to the Brunswick Campus. Social distancing protocols will be
implemented and face masks will be required.
Individuals who would like to donate are asked to make an appointment online
at RedCrossBlood.org and enter “sghsys” to schedule an appointment,
or call 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767).
Donors can save up to 15 minutes at the blood drive by reading and completing
the RapidPass® pre-donation health history questionnaire. To complete
a RapidPass®, follow the instructions at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass
or use the Red Cross Blood Donor App.
