February 15, 2021 –Stuffed animals are often thought of as a gift
for children, but the soft, cuddly toys can be effective comfort items
for people of all ages. For senior adults in particular, a stuffed animal
can fulfill a tactile as well as an emotional need, and may stimulate
memories of a favorite toy or a beloved pet. Understanding the value of
a stuffed animal, Castaways Pet Rescue, with the help of PetSmarts in
Brunswick and Hinesville, recently donated more than 100 new stuffed animals
to Southeast Georgia Health System
Senior Care Center-Brunswick residents.
Castaway Pet Rescue, located in Darien, is a not-for-profit charity dedicated
to saving dogs and cats in south Georgia. Operated through a network of
volunteers and pet foster homes in the coastal Georgia area, Castaway
Pet Rescue rescued and adopted over 700 cats and dogs in 2020.
