A message from Michael D. Scherneck, President & Chief Executive Officer:
Southeast Georgia Health System is dedicated to treating everyone who presents
to us for care. It is part of the fabric of who we are and what we represent.
There is no place for personal bias in the core tenet of our mission,
vision and values.
The challenges we face that have been brought about by COVID-19 are unprecedented.
But most recently, the burdens of the COVID-19 pandemic have been overshadowed
by the disturbing deaths of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd and the resulting
protests that are occurring throughout our nation—including in our
local communities that are built on diversity. As a nation, we need to
join as one to address social inequities and forge stronger communities.
At Southeast Georgia Health System, we promise to uphold our core values
of compassion, respect, integrity and teamwork, which are as important
in our community lives as they are when we are at work. Indifference is
not an option, especially for health care professionals who have dedicated
their lives to caring for others, and we will do our part to ensure equality
of all throughout our Health System and throughout the communities we serve.
