December 31, 2020 – Southeast Georgia Health System is pleased to
welcome obstetrician and gynecologist
Bradley William Newton, M.D., to
Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Obstetrics & Gynecology in St. Marys and to the
Camden Campus medical staff. His services include annual well-woman visits, cancer screening,
family planning and birth control management, contraceptive implants and
IUDs, infertility treatment, prenatal care, labor and delivery services,
treatment of pelvic pain and urinary disorders, and management of menopausal
symptoms. He also performs pelvic and urinary tract surgery and is trained
in minimally-invasive surgical techniques.
Additionally, Newton offers hysteroscopic treatment for abnormal bleeding,
uterine fibroids and infertility, as well as laparoscopic sterilization
procedures and surgical management of endometriosis. Newton received certification
in Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery and performs abdominal, laparoscopic
and vaginal hysterectomies.
Newton is a Georgia native and grew up in Augusta. He graduated with honors
from the University of Georgia and earned his medical degree from Mercer
University School of Medicine in Savannah, Georgia. His residency training
took place in Philadelphia, where he graduated from Temple University
Hospital/Lewis Katz School of Medicine.
Newton’s love of helping others led him to the medical field. “I
enjoy the opportunity to maintain continuity with patients in both the
outpatient and inpatient settings. It is a privilege to help prevent and
treat diseases throughout a patient’s life,” Newton says.
One of the most meaningful aspects of his practice is working with families
as they plan a pregnancy and welcome a new child into the world. “It
is immensely rewarding to provide care throughout this time.”
As he interacts with patients in his office or at the hospital, Newton
takes the time to listen to their concerns. He presents each patient with
medical or surgical options based on the latest evidence-based guidelines.
“It is the physician’s role to provide advice, but I always
encourage patient autonomy and active participation. My patients will
always be the primary decision-maker in their own health care.”
When Newton began researching his options for the next step in his career,
finding a small community hospital like the Health System’s Camden
Campus was the perfect fit for him and his wife,
Danielle N. Mankin, M.D., a family medicine doctor at
Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Primary Care. “We provide high-quality medical and surgical care in a convenient,
accessible facility. Patients have the opportunity to know their providers
and to make health care decisions based on their own goals and values,”
Newton says.
St. Marys is an excellent home base for an outdoor enthusiast like Newton.
When he is not caring for patients, he explores the coastline by fishing,
boating, camping or jogging with his dog, Maddie. His favorite indoor
activity is watching University of Georgia football games. “I’m
a big fan and watch every game, unless I’m delivering a baby, of
course!” Recently, Newton got a taste of his own medicine; he and
Mankin welcomed a beautiful baby boy just in time for the holidays.
