April 17, 2020 – Georgia Hospital Association’s Georgia Society
of Volunteer and Retail Professionals (GSVRP) recently presented Southeast
Georgia Health System with the Outstanding Gift Shop Award at their annual
conference. The award was presented to the
Gift Shop team in recognition of how the
Gift Shop enhances the Health System’s mission and vision – to provide
safe, quality, accessible and cost-effective care to meet the health needs
of the people and communities we serve.
Susan Floyd, coordinator, Gift and Retail Shops, was present to receive
the award. “A portion of the funds raised in the
Gift Shop, in conjunction with proceeds from volunteer events throughout the year,
are donated back to the Health System to enhance patient care and help
purchase equipment,” explains Floyd. “Over the last four years,
we have donated $500,000 towards the expansion of the Emergency Care Center.”
Additionally, one of the Gift Shop’s buying practices is to feature
product lines throughout the year that not only benefit Southeast Georgia
Health System through purchases, but other global and local charitable
causes as well. “Giving back comes naturally to us and is at the
heart of what we do. We try to select products that support a charitable
cause locally or globally,” says Floyd.
GSVRP promotes and enhances the practice of administrators of organized
volunteer programs in a health care organization by providing educational
programs, networking opportunities and recognizing service and program
excellence.
