Debra Harrison
I started working in admissions many moons ago, then transferred to the
sleep lab which consisted of a much smaller group of people. We became
very close. One of the gentlemen I worked with had no family. As our friendship
grew, I became his emergency contact, and at the end of things, his caregiver.
I was there when he passed and was able to lead him to the Lord the day
before he went home.
Now I'm in cardiac rehabilitation and care for many departments, but
my favorite thing is getting to know our patients. I can talk to anyone;
a smile and a good morning can go a long way to brighten someone's
day. Cardiac rehabilitation, cardiology and the sleep lab are my babies,
and I love the folks I work with. Sometimes there is conflict, which can
be found anywhere, but we work well together and our patients come first.
Also, our volunteers in this system are great and a huge help! We love
our volunteers!
People sometimes have negative experiences at the hospital, but what I
hear most of the time are compliments on our caring and compassion. We
are capable, and no other hospital can beat us! I'm proud to be a
Southeast Georgia Health System team member.
