March 29, 2019 – Southeast Georgia Health System
Auxiliaries recently announced Patricia Shaw as the Brunswick Campus Volunteer of
the Quarter and Kathleen Worthing as the Camden Campus Volunteer of the
Quarter during their respective quarterly spring luncheons.
For the past year, Patricia Shaw has volunteered at the Guest Services
desk on Mondays and substituted for people as needed on other days of
the week as well. “It has always been my pleasure to serve where
there’s a need,” Shaw describes. “I’m so grateful
that the Volunteer Services department has afforded me this opportunity
to serve at the Health System.”
“Pat has only been a volunteer with us for a short time, but she
has already made a big impact,” says Kristin Doll, CAVS, director,
Volunteer Services. “She’s always looking for ways to serve
others and consistently offers to cover vacant volunteer shifts or help
with special projects.”
Shaw also gives her time to other organizations. She is a greeter and teaches
Bible study to three- to five-year-olds at the Abundant Life Church. She
is married to Melvin Shaw, and they have three children and five grandchildren.
In her free time, she enjoys walking and doing HGTV-inspired projects
around her home.
Kathleen Worthing began volunteering at the Senior Care Center-St. Marys
10 years ago. She currently volunteers on Fridays at the Guest Services
desk and has served in the outpatient lab as well. Worthing is also the
immediate past president of the Camden Campus Auxiliary and has served
various roles on the board.
Current Camden Campus Auxiliary President, Deana Belcher, describes Worthing
as “a kind-hearted, dedicated volunteer and leader who is passionate
about serving others.”
“This is where my heart is,” says Worthing. “Every time
I volunteer at the hospital, my life is enriched. I get to witness our
caring team members and volunteers provide care to people of our community.”
In addition to volunteering at the Health System, Worthing also participates
in a variety of other community organizations. She is a member of the
Women’s Club, a trustee for Woodbine Public Library and a member
of St. Marys Episcopal Church in Woodbine. She is married to Ken Worthing,
and they have a daughter and a son. In her spare time, Worthing enjoys
needlework, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
More than 300 volunteers generously share their time and talents to assist
patients, visitors and team members at the Southeast Georgia Health System
Brunswick and Camden campuses, as well as the Senior Care Centers in Brunswick
and St. Marys. To learn more about volunteer opportunities, contact Kristin
