July 16, 2019 – Southeast Georgia Health System
Volunteer Services recently announced Terri Dunkle as the Brunswick Campus Volunteer of the
Quarter and Joan Lamanna as the Camden Campus Volunteer of the Quarter
during their respective quarterly summer luncheons.
For the past four years, Terri Dunkle has volunteered at the Brunswick
Campus main street guest services desk on Mondays and the Parkwood guest
services desk on Fridays.
“I can’t think of a single day that Terri wasn’t optimistic,
enthusiastic and helpful while volunteering,” says Joyce Toler,
president, Brunswick Campus Volunteer Services. “He understands
the importance of team work and demonstrates compassion and empathy in
his volunteer role while providing great customer service. His can-do
attitude is an inspiration to us all.”
In his free time, Dunkle enjoys reading, traveling to see his eight grandchildren
and stamp collecting. Prior to becoming a volunteer at the Health System,
Dunkle worked as an academic at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. A
Marine Corps veteran, Dunkle served in Vietnam and is a Purple Heart medal
recipient.
Joan Lamanna has volunteered at the Health System for three years, dedicating
her time on Tuesdays to the Camden Campus guest services desk and on Saturdays
to helping the Senior Care Center-St. Marys during their weekly Bingo
tournament. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling and wine tasting.
“Joan’s previous experience in hospitality is evident in her
welcoming smile and her willingness to go the extra mile for our patients,”
says Deana Belcher, president, Camden Campus Volunteer Services. “She
demonstrates a team player attitude by covering for fellow volunteers,
as well.”
Lamanna is married to Mike Lamanna, a fellow Camden Campus volunteer. They
have two children and two grandchildren.
More than 300 volunteers generously share their time and talents to assist
patients, visitors and team members at the Southeast Georgia Health System
Brunswick and Camden campuses, as well as the Senior Care Centers in Brunswick
and St. Marys. To learn more about volunteer opportunities, contact Kristin
