As of this afternoon, the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has reported
that Hurricane Dorian is continuing to slow and is not expected to impact
the southeast Georgia area until Tuesday-Thursday next week. The Health
System will continue normal operating conditions.
Please note that rain unrelated to Hurricane Dorian is expected for Saturday
and Sunday, and combined with the expected hurricane rainfall, there is
an increased likelihood of flooding in low lying areas. Now is the time
to prepare homes and buildings for possible flooding.
The Health System leadership team will continue to closely monitor the
projected path of Hurricane Dorian and participate in the twice-daily
EMA emergency preparedness meetings. As we receive more information, we
will provide updates via email and our text alerts. Please encourage all
team members to sign up for the notifications by texting SGHSTA to 41400.
Please review your emergency plans and make sure your disaster kits are
current! If it becomes likely that weather conditions will impact Southeast
Georgia, we will update the hurricane page on our website:
. Once we have announcements posted, team members can click on the “hurricane
timeline” to access all our announcements:
