August 14, 2019 – Are you or a loved one experiencing upper abdominal
discomfort, such as a burning sensation, bloating or nausea? Did you know
that indigestion is often a sign of an underlying problem rather than
a condition of its own? If you have frequent heartburn and indigestion,
you may have gastro-esophageal reflux disease or
GERD, a condition where acid from your stomach flows back into your esophagus
causing discomfort and pain.
GERD can be a frustrating condition that can affect your quality of life, but
there are treatments and surgical options available.
On Wednesday, Aug. 28, 12:30-1:30 p.m.,
Vincent K. Arlauskas, M.D., general surgeon with Southeast
Georgia Physician Associates-Glynn General & Vascular Surgery, will be the guest speaker for the monthly Golden Isles YMCA Lunch and
Learn. His presentation, “Cool the Burn: Understanding Reflux Causes,
Symptoms & Treatment Options,” will include important information
on GERD risk factors, differentiating symptoms, and medical and surgical
treatment options, including da Vinci ® Robotic Surgery.
The Golden Isles YMCA is located at 144 Scranton Connector, Brunswick.
Seating is limited and pre-registration is required by calling the YMCA
at 912-265-4100. A YMCA membership is not required to attend; the Lunch
and Learn is open to the public, and lunch will be provided by Shane’s
Rib Shack at no charge to attendees.
Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Glynn General & Vascular Surgery is a strategic affiliate of Southeast Georgia Health System.
