April 22, 2019 – Every day, lives are saved and enhanced by someone’s
decision to give the gift of life, sight and health. One organ and tissue
donor can save up to eight lives and help more than 75 people. Choosing
to be an organ and tissue donor is an important decision; however, anyone,
regardless of age or medical history, can register to be a donor.
April is Donate Life Month and Southeast Georgia Health System wants to
remind everyone that they can help save a life. On Wednesday, April 24,
12:30-1:30 p.m., Jan Jones, R.N., BSN, director, Patient Care Services,
Southeast Georgia Health System, will be the guest speaker for the monthly
Golden Isles YMCA Lunch and Learn. Her presentation, “Donate Life:
Get the Facts about Organ Donation,” will include important information
on the different types of organ and tissue donations, how the matching
process works, hospital regulations, how to sign up to be an organ donor, and more.
The Golden Isles YMCA is located at 144 Scranton Connector, Brunswick.
Seating is limited and pre-registration is required by calling the YMCA
at 912-265-4100. A YMCA membership is not required to attend; the Lunch
and Learn is open to the public, and lunch will be provided by Zaxby’s
at no charge to attendees.
