Denny A. Carter, M.D., and
Beau Sasser, M.D., board-certified orthopaedic surgeons at
Summit Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery, make a return appearance on the Health System’s Health Chat Webinars
series to discuss an innovative total knee replacement technique using
Mako® Robotic-Arm Assisted technology. This webinar is part three

“During part two, we discussed arthritis and the different ways to
treat it, specifically in reference to hip pain,” says Sasser. “In
part three, we address the topic of knee pain, and how a total knee replacement
utilizing Mako technology offers a surgical treatment option for arthritis
that allows us to optimize implant position based on a patient’s
unique anatomy.”
Carter was born and raised in Georgia. A national merit scholar, he earned
a full academic scholarship to Mississippi State University, graduating
summa cum laude in biochemistry and molecular biology. He then attended
the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He completed his orthopaedic
surgery residency training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences
Center where he gained valuable experience in orthopaedic trauma surgery
at the famous Charity Hospital in New Orleans.
A native of Glynn County, Sasser earned his undergraduate degree from Washington
University in St. Louis, Mo. He earned his medical degree and completed
both his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency from the Medical
College of Georgia. Following his residency, Sasser received exclusive
sports medicine training while in a fellowship program with the Kansas
City Orthopaedic Institute. During this time, he worked with the NFL’s
Kansas City Chiefs, treating a variety of sports and orthopaedic injuries
incurred by these elite athletes.
