October 24, 2018 – Are you suffering from chronic heel pain? Do you
know that the heel bone, also known as the calcaneus, is the largest of
the 26 bones in the human foot? Gradually, repetitive stress on the foot
may injure muscles, ligaments and/or bones in the heel area, causing pain;
however, heel pain can also be a result of another foot condition.
On Wednesday, Oct. 31, 12:30-1:30 p.m.,
Jake J. Porter III, M.D., MPH,
Summit Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery, will present a Lunch and Learn For Your Health lecture at the Golden
Isles YMCA. An orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery,
his presentation, “How to Treat and Prevent Chronic Heel Pain,”
will discuss the importance of properly identifying and managing the underlying
cause of heel pain, including surgical and non-surgical treatment options.
The Golden Isles YMCA is located at 144 Scranton Connector, Brunswick.
Seating is limited and pre-registration is required by calling the YMCA
at 912-265-4100. A YMCA membership is not required to attend; the Lunch
and Learn is open to the public, and lunch will be provided by Fox’s
Pizza at no charge to attendees.
