May 16, 2018 – The Glynn-Brunswick Memorial Hospital Authority, Southeast
Georgia Health System, Inc., and the Camden Advisory Committee are pleased
to announce the appointment of new members, effective May 1, 2018, the
beginning of Southeast Georgia Health System’s fiscal year.
Barrette Walker has been appointed to a
four year
term on the Glynn-Brunswick Memorial Hospital Authority, along with the
reappointment of Valerie Hepburn, Ph.D., and Mitchell T. Jones, M.D.
J. Vance Hughes, a member since 2010, has stepped down from his position
with the Authority but was reappointed a three-year term with the Southeast
Georgia Health System, Inc. Board of Directors.
Rose Andrews opted to retire from her positions with the Camden Advisory
Committee and Southeast Georgia Health System, Inc. Board of Directors.
Andrews was appointed to the Camden Advisory Committee in
2006,
and became chair in 2012. She was appointed a board member of the Southeast
Georgia Health System, Inc. in 2015. Jeffery “Jeff” B. Barker
has been appointed to a
three year
term on the Southeast Georgia Health System, Inc. Board of Directors,
replacing Andrews. Reappointed were J. Vance Hughes, Mitchell T. Jones,
M.D. and Joanne Matukaitis, MSN, R.N., FABC, FAACVPR. Clainetta T. Jefferson
replaces Andrews on the Camden Advisory Committee.

Rose Andrews for her many years of service and dedication to the Health
System.”
A native of Brunswick, Walker is a staff assistant with the Federal Law
Enforcement Training Center Asset and Logistics Management Division. Prior
to his current
position
he worked at Coastal Georgia Community Action Authority, Inc., after 23
years of service in the U.S. Army. He earned his bachelor’s degree
in criminal justice and master’s degree in homeland security from
the American Military University in Charlestown, West Virginia. Walker
is involved in several community service organizations,
including:
Fourteen Black Men of Glynn, Coastal Georgia Community Action Authority,
Inc., Cornerstone Lodge #8 Clyde Chapple Masonic Scholarship Fund, Omega
Psi Phi Golf Tournament/Scholarship Program and Scottish Rite Consistory
G.L. Buchanan Masons Scholarship.
A member of the Health System’s Camden Advisory Committee since 2004,
Barker is the president and chief operating officer for St. Marys United
Methodist Church Foundation. Prior to that, he worked at Gilman Paper
Company for 21 years, which later became Durango Paper Company, and served
as executive vice president and general manager. Barker has a bachelor’s
degree in pulp and paper science from North Carolina State University
and an Executive Education Certificate from Louisiana State University.
Active with the St. Marys United Methodist Church since 1979, he has served
on many church committees. Currently, he also serves on the board of directors
for Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation, College of Coastal Georgia
Foundation, The Coastal Bank of Georgia and the Board of Ordained Ministry
for the South Georgia Annual Conference of the UMC.
Jefferson, also of St. Marys, is the school liaison officer at Naval Submarine
Base Kings Bay, providing administrative leadership, instructional support
and program coordination for military families. Previously she was the
principal at Modern Knowledge School in Manama, Bahrain and Okinawa Christina
School in Yomitan, Japan. She earned her bachelor’s degree from
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida,
and master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina, Columbia,
and George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
