March 30, 2018 – Southeast Georgia Health System is pleased to welcome
new Camden Campus medical staff member
Jonathan Andrew Egly, M.D., board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with
Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Obstetrics & Gynecology, a strategic affiliate of the Health System.
Egly earned his medical degree from St. George’s University, Grenada,
West Indies, and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at
the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Prior to joining the Health System, Egly practiced at Peterson Women’s
Associates as a general obstetrician and gynecologist and volunteered
at a Pregnancy Resource Center in Kerrville, Texas, where they provide
local and mobile outreach programs and services, including free pregnancy
ultrasounds and STD testing to an at-risk population. Educating his patients
and the community is important to Egly in his career as a health care provider.
“My role is to educate my patients so they can make the best decision
for their own care as well as for their pregnancy,” says Egly. “There
is an incredible amount of misinformation out there regarding basic OB/GYN
care, and research in this field is constantly changing. What a patient
may have been told 10 years ago might not necessarily be true today. I
take pride in knowing that a patient has made her decision on evidence-based
medical knowledge instead of out of fear or what other people might have
told her.”
When Egly isn’t practicing medicine, he enjoys working on old cars
with his brother and a variety of outdoor activities, such as fishing,
sailing, hiking, camping and kayaking. Although he considered many health
systems throughout the country, Egly decided to set roots in Southeast
Georgia because of the Health System’s reputation for providing
innovative technology and advance procedures.
“When I became aware of an opening at the Health System’s Camden
Campus, I jumped at the opportunity,” says Egly. “Southeast
Georgia Health System has a reputation for staying current with the latest
medical practices and new innovations.”
