June 7, 2018 – Camden County Chamber of Commerce honored Lisa Dickerson,
MBA, BSN, assistant administrator, Southeast Georgia Health System Camden
Campus, as their 2018 Charlie A. Smith Service Award recipient. Rachel
Baldwin, 2016 Chair, Camden County Chamber of Commerce, and last year’s
Charlie A. Smith Service Award recipient, presented the award to Dickerson
at their Leadership Camden Graduation and Annual Chamber Awards event
at the Horse Stamp Inn in Waverly, Georgia, on May 31, 2018.
“Receiving this award is an unexpected honor,” says Dickerson.
“I’m grateful to my mentors, like Howard Sepp, who taught
me great leadership qualities through example, and gave me opportunities
within the Health System to be able to serve the community.”
The Charlie A. Smith Service Award is the highest honor the Chamber can
bestow and is given in memory of past chairman, Charlie A. Smith. According
to Baldwin, “Charlie pursued every task with a servant’s heart,
seeking the only ‘return on his investment’ of time, effort
and support to be that Camden County become a better place. He especially
cherished leadership and was a mentor to many of us. This year, the Charlie
A. Smith Service Award goes to someone who has invested in this community
with Charlie’s zeal and dedication.”
Baldwin describes Dickerson as having a “servant’s heart, running
a tight ship professionally and as a volunteer. She takes her Chamber
board membership responsibilities seriously and has almost single handedly
recruited, organized, coordinated and delivered a comprehensive year of
opportunities to members who aspire to leadership."
