February 26, 2018 –
Wolfson Children’s at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, Georgia, an outpatient pediatric specialty center, recently
received a $977 donation from U.S. Representative Buddy Carter, who serves
Georgia’s 1st District.
The second-term Republican congressman, and the only pharmacist serving
on Capitol Hill, elected to withhold his salary during January’s
three-day government shutdown, and specified that the money be directly
donated to Wolfson Children’s at Southeast Georgia Health System
so it will remain in the local community. The specialty center serves
children from the nine-county area in and around Brunswick.
Congressman Carter presented the donation to
Michael D. Scherneck, president & CEO, Southeast Georgia Health System and Michael D. Aubin,
FACHE, president, Wolfson Children’s Hospital, on Wednesday, Feb.
21. Megan Denk, executive director of THE PLAYERS Center for Child Health
at Wolfson Children’s was also on hand for the check presentation.
Denk provides oversight for pediatric advocacy efforts for Wolfson Children’s
at Southeast Georgia Health System.
“I applaud the congressman for donating what amounts to his three-day
salary during the recent government shutdown and for thinking of the region’s
sick and injured children,” said Aubin. “His gift will benefit
children and families who reside in his district and who receive expert
treatment at Wolfson Children’s at Southeast Georgia Health System.”
