October 3, 2017 – Southeast Georgia Health System is once again pinking
out this October in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In addition to color-themed attire and month-long decorations, a variety
of community activities and fundraisers are planned, including the annual
ARTrageous Bras exhibit, Mammos & ManiCURES and Pink Out Friday.
Throughout October, the Health System decorates their lobbies as well as
the Senior Care Centers and physician offices with large pink ribbons
to celebrate breast cancer awareness. Pink flags are hung from lampposts,
nursing teams wear pink gloves, surgical teams wear pink surgical caps
and the cafeterias serve pink desserts.
In addition, the Health System Foundation hosts its annual ARTrageous Bras
fundraiser to promote breast cancer awareness. The Brunswick Campus Horton
Gallery and the Camden Campus art gallery display the ARTrageous Bras
exhibit Oct. 1-31, which allows everyone an opportunity to view the creations
and cast $1 votes for their favorites. Photos of the ARTrageous Bras are
also posted on the Health System’s website for electronic voting.
Competition can be fierce, often resulting in daily changes to the bras
earning the most votes. At the end of the month, the ARTrageous Bras that
have earned the most votes will be modeled in a live auction, and the
remaining entries placed in a silent auction. The free community events
will be held in Brunswick and Kingsland, with proceeds from the auctions
benefitting the Health System cancer care programs. For more information,
