Nov. 8, 2017 –Michael D. Scherneck, president and chief executive
officer (CEO), Southeast Georgia Health System, was recently named the
2017 CEO/Administrator of the Year by the Council on Auxiliaries/Volunteers
(CoA/V) of the Georgia Hospital Association.
Scherneck
was presented
the award at the CoA/V’s annual conference in Augusta on Oct. 18
after being nominated by the Health System’s Brunswick and Camden
Campus Auxiliaries, and selected by a three-member, out-of-state panel
of judges.
Joyce Toler, president of the Health System’s Brunswick Campus Auxiliary,
wrote in the nomination, “Although Mr. Scherneck has only been in
the role of president and CEO for about two years, he has been a long-time
supporter of our Auxiliary. He relocated to the Golden Isles in 2003 to
assume the role of executive vice president and chief financial officer
at the Health System, regularly attending our quarterly meetings. He is
always appreciative of funds we donate to the Health System over the years
and supported the expansion of our Gift Shop to almost double its previous
size.”
She also noted, “Mr. Scherneck has a wonderful sense of humor, is
very approachable and makes it a priority to attend and support our Auxiliary
meetings and events. He is our biggest cheerleader!”
