Nov. 17, 2017– The anterior cruciate ligament, also known as the
ACL, is the most commonly injured knee ligament. Understanding ACL injuries
and how to overcome them is the first step toward recovery. Beau Sasser, M.D.,
surgeon at Summit Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery, and medical
director of Southeast Georgia Health System Sports Medicine, presents “Understanding and Overcoming an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury” for this month’s Health Chat Webinar.
“Depending on the extent of the ACL injury and the patient’s
level of activity, surgery may be required,” says Sasser. “During
this educational webinar, you’ll get a sneak peek inside my operating
room to see how the surgery is actually performed.”
Sasser is a native of Glynn County. He earned his undergraduate degree
from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and his medical degree from
the Medical College of Georgia where he also completed both his internship and
residency. Following his residency, Sasser received exclusive sports medicine
training while in a fellowship program with the Kansas City Orthopaedic
Institute. During this time, he worked with the NFL’s Kansas City
Chiefs, treating a variety of sports and
injuries incurred by these elite athletes.
Watching the Health System’s Health Chat Webinars is an easy, convenient

anyone interested in improving their health or expanding their knowledge
of health care to participate from a personal computer,
or mobile device at a time of their choice. Sasser has hosted a variety
of Health Chat Webinar topics, including when to see the doctor for shoulder
pain and a
webinar series featuring innovative surgical techniques for both knee
and hip replacements with colleague Denny A. Carter, M.D., also a board-certified
