March 30, 2017 – Hospitals and medical offices around the nation
celebrate National Doctors Day on March 30, a special day conceived by
Eudora Brown Almond, wife of physician Charles B. Almond, M.D., to recognize
physicians, their work and their contributions to society and the communities
they serve. Southeast Georgia Health System marked the occasion by recognizing
the more than 300 physicians who have privileges at its multiple facilities
in Southeast Georgia with a luncheon on both the Brunswick and Camden campuses.

To honor the Brunswick Campus medical staff, the Health System made a $2,500
donation to the Southeast Georgia Health System Foundation; the Camden
Campus medical staff were honored through a similar donation to the Camden House.
The first observance of Doctors Day was March 30, 1933, and in 1990, President
George Bush officially designated March 30 as National Doctors Day.
