July 17, 2017 – Frances Zwenig celebrated her 72nd birthday on July
11, 2017, by donating $11,000 to the Southeast Georgia Health System Foundation
for the Emergency Care Center. Zwenig attributes Mohsen Akhlaghi, M.D.,
medical director, Emergency Care Center (ECC), Brunswick Campus, and the
ECC team for saving her life on January 13 when she was diagnosed with
an abdominal aortic aneurism, an enlarged area in the lower part of the
aorta, which is the major blood vessel that supplies blood to the body.
Six months later, Zwenig was surrounded by Akhlaghi, ECC team members and
friends as everyone celebrated this special birthday, one Zwenig says
she would not be alive to enjoy without the care she received while at
Southeast Georgia Health System. The donation, which was provided from
Zwenig’s charitable-giving fund established with the Communities
of Coastal Georgia Foundation, is earmarked for renovations to the ECC
team member lounge, including new furniture, flooring and a big screen
television.
“Your professionalism, patience, politeness, expertise - just doing
your job - saved my life,” said Ms. Zwenig. “Thank you.”
