a strategic affiliate of Southeast Georgia Health System, has successfully
completed the Epilepsy Certification examination administered by the American
Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc.
To obtain this additional board certification, Fernandez completed rigorous
training and achieved the gold standard in each of the six core competencies
of patient care, medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills,
professionalism, systems-based practice, and practice-based learning and
improvement, to practice quality specialized medicine in epilepsy.
Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by recurrent,
unpredictable seizures, according to the Epilepsy Foundation, affecting
three million people in the United States. While there is not a cure for
epilepsy, treatments are available that stop or control seizures for many.
