Dec. 26, 2017 – Michelle Austin of Brunswick was recently named Volunteer
of the Quarter by the Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus
Auxiliary.
“I love, love, love volunteering,” exclaims Austin. “Being
able to bring people comfort by offering them a warm blanket, a glass
of water or a magazine when they’re feeling sick or worried is why
I’m here and why I enjoy volunteering so much.”
Austin has been volunteering with the Health System for four and
half
years. She can be found in Central Prep & Recovery on Tuesdays and
the Emergency Care Center on Thursdays. Austin is also a member of the
First African Baptist Church where she sings in the choir, serves as a
pastor aide and is on the board of trustees. In her “spare”
time, she enjoys traveling, listening to music and doing
word
search puzzles.
“We appreciate Michelle’s calm and kind demeanor, her keen
sense of organization and her need to stay busy — traits that make
her perfectly suited for her volunteer departments,” notes Kristin
Doll, CAVS, director, Volunteer Services. “We always try to keep
her favorite candy, Mr. Goodbar, in the Volunteer Services office for
when she needs to refuel on busy days.”
More than 300 volunteers generously share their time and talents to assist
patients, visitors, and team members at the Southeast Georgia Health System
Brunswick and Camden campuses, as well as the Senior Care Centers in Brunswick
and St. Marys. To learn more about volunteer opportunities, contact Volunteer
