
Frances L. Owen, M.D., board-certified pediatrician, Southeast Georgia
Physician Associates-St. Simons Pediatrics, a strategic affiliate of the
Health System, was recently honored with the “2016 Contributions
to Quality Care of Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs”
award. The award was presented by the Georgia Department of Public Health
at the annual meeting of the Georgia Chapter American Academy of Pediatrics.
Congratulating Owen on her award, Brenda Fitzgerald, M.D., commissioner
and state health officer, Georgia Department of Public Health, noted,
“This award recognizes physicians who treat children with chronic
physical, developmental, behavioral or emotional conditions. Every day
you dedicate your time and energy to the children and families of your
community. The passion and commitment you demonstrate is one to be recognized
and commended.”
Owen has a special interest in adolescent medicine, particularly the diagnosis
and treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. She received
her bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville in Louisville,
Ky., and her doctorate from Wright State University School of Medicine
in Dayton, Ohio. Owen completed both her internship and residency at the
University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.
