The American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) recently honored
Karen Andrews Daniel, administrator, Southeast Georgia Health System Senior
Care Center-Brunswick, as a 2016 recipient of the Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award.
The Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award, named in memory of visionary ACHCA
member Eli Pick, recognizes administrators whose teams have achieved exceptional
organizational quality throughout the award year. Eligibility for this
award is based on three years of skilled nursing facility survey data,
including the Health, Fire (Life Safety) and Complaint Surveys, as well
as top quartile performance on designated Quality Measures. Qualifying
criteria also included an 80 percent or greater facility occupancy and a
three year
avoidance of a Special Focus Facility status. Andrews Daniel is one of
247 recipients who
were
recognized nationally with this prestigious leadership award.
“Karen’s diligence and detail-oriented efforts to maintain
facility excellence
is
indicative of her leadership skills and devotion to her work at Southeast
Georgia Health System,” says Patrick D. Ebri, Ph.D., FACHE, vice
president, Human Resources. “Her commitment to our residents is
what makes our Senior Care Center so exceptional and, on behalf of the
Health System leadership, I extend a special congratulations and thank
you to Karen for everything she has accomplished.”
Andrews Daniel joined the Health System in 2006 as the director of Medical
Staff Services, became the director of operations at the Senior Care Center-Brunswick
in 2011 and accepted her current position as administrator of the Senior
Care Center-Brunswick in 2012. In addition to her wealth of health care
management experience, Andrews Daniel is also a member of the Georgia
Health Care Association and the American College of Health Care Administrators.
Under her leadership, the Senior Care Center-Brunswick is rated as a five-star
facility by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is
the recipient of the “Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award”
for its dedication to improving the lives of residents through quality
care, presented by the American Health Care Association and National Center
for Assisted Living.
The Senior Care Center-Brunswick is one of two Health System facilities
that offer short-term rehabilitation, nursing care
and
long-term residential living. Both facilities provide a warm, safe, home-like
environment for residents, as well as a wide range of specialists, including
but not limited to occupational, physical and speech therapists, physicians,
