Wolfson Children’s at Southeast Georgia Health System dedicated a
new play area for local families at the Glynn Place Mall on Friday, Jan.
22, 2016. The indoor playground features an ocean theme, aligning with
the coastal heritage of Southeast Georgia.
Michael D. Scherneck, president and chief executive officer, Southeast
Georgia Health System, Megan Denk, director of THE PLAYERS Center for
Child Health at Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Zach Albright, general
manager of the Glynn Place Mall hosted the dedication and ribbon cutting.
“Since 2013, Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Southeast Georgia
Health System have worked together to bring pediatric outpatient specialty
care to the children of this community,” says Denk. “Our two
organizations have once again joined forces to dedicate this brand new
play area, encouraging both fun and active play for children.”
Wolfson’s Children at Southeast Georgia Health System, located in
the Medical Plaza across from the Brunswick Campus, offers a variety of
pediatric specialty services for children including rehabilitation, cardiology,
hematology/oncology, urology and complex ear, nose
and
throat care.
“It’s very exciting to see the Wolfson Children’s at
Southeast Georgia Health System play area come to life,” says Scherneck.
“We’re proud to have the name of our joint pediatric specialty
center on this new playground as it represents our continuing commitment
to the families in our community.”
Children from Brunswick Christian Academy helped break in the newly dedicated
play area, and also brought
hand made
get well cards for patients at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville.
Event attendees enjoyed door prizes, giveaways
and
refreshments. When not playing on the new equipment, children were entertained
by Wolfie, the Wolfson Children’s Hospital mascot, and had photos
taken with Coral Beth the mermaid.
In addition to serving as a gathering place for local families, the play
area will also be a future site for educational and other fun events.
