The southbound lanes of the Sidney Lanier Bridge on Highway 17 in Brunswick
will be closed to traffic from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13,
for the Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run. Southbound traffic
will be re-routed using Hwy. 341. The northbound lanes across the bridge
will remain open.
More than 2,200 runners and walkers are expected to attend this year’s
Bridge Run. In addition, the Bridge Run Vendor Expo will host a wide array
of local and regional businesses offering food, running shoes, walking
and exercise gear, automobiles, motorcycles and ATVs, along with important
information to improve and enhance personal health and harmony. Participants
are encouraged to bring cash for vendors, ATMs will not be available,
and to arrive early to avoid parking delays.
The 2016 Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run and Runner’s
Expo is scheduled to take place Saturday, Feb. 13, at 7 a.m. at the foot
of the scenic Sidney Lanier Bridge on Highway 17 in Brunswick, Ga. This
year marks the 14th year of the event. Proceeds will benefit the Health
System’s cancer care programs.
The Pre-Run Pasta Party and Runner’s Expo is scheduled for Friday,
Feb. 12, from 5-8 pm at the foot of the Sidney Lanier bridge. Pre-registered
runners and walkers can pick up his or her bib number and t-shirt. A full
pasta meal with drink is available for $5.
Runners and walkers can still register at active.com until 11:59 p.m. on
Wednesday, Feb. 10; the cost is $40 per individual. A final late runner
registration will be available at the Pasta Party, but there is no guarantee
that a timing chip will be available; there will be NO day-of-event runner
registration. Late walker registration is available at the Bridge Run
on Saturday, Feb. 13, 7-8 a.m., at a cost of $40.
