
July 21, 2015– Board certified surgeon T. Wayne Rentz, M.D., of Southeast
Georgia Physicians Associates-Brunswick General Surgery, a strategic affiliate
of Southeast Georgia Health System, was recently named the Associate Dean
for the Southeast Georgia Regional Campus of the Medical College of Georgia
at Georgia Regents University.
Serving as the Southeast Campus Assistant Dean for Curriculum for the
last five years, Rentz’s responsibilities as Associate Dean will
be to continue the exceptional growth and success of the campus. His appointment is
testament
to his ability and commitment to endeavors to build the stellar reputation
of the medical school and the Brunswick campus.

coming year as we address our accreditation processes,” said Vice
Dean for Academic Affairs, Paul M. Wallach, M.D

“With his leadership, we’ll start writing the next chapter
of our school’s rich history to health care in Georgia.”

Rentz is a second-generation Medical College of Georgia alumnus, graduating
in 1972 and receiving his general surgery training at the Naval Regional
Medical Center at Portsmouth, Va. After training, he became a staff surgeon
at the U.S. Naval Hospital at Roosevelt Roads in Puerto Rico and was named
Chief of Surgical Services there in 1979. He worked as a surgeon at the
Naval Aerospace and Regional Medical Center in Pensacola, Florida, before
leaving active duty with the U.S. Naval Reserves and coming to Brunswick
in 1983. Deeply committed to the health of the community, he has been
a medical staff member at Southeast Georgia Health System for over 30 years.
The Southeast Georgia Regional Campus based at Southeast Georgia Health
System provides third- and fourth-year MCG students with the opportunity
to live and learn in
one
the state’s most historic regions. Students get extensive hands-on
experience through a variety of clinical rotations, not only Brunswick
and St. Marys, but also in smaller areas like Waycross, Jesup, Statesboro,
and Blackshear.
