July 10, 2015 – Southeast Georgia Health System underwent rigorous,
on-site concurrent surveys of the Brunswick Campus, on Monday, March 9
through Thursday, March 12, and the Camden Campus on Monday, March 9 through
Tuesday, March 10, 2015.
During the surveys, an expert team of Joint Commission surveyors evaluated
compliance of hospital standards related to a variety of areas, including
coordination of care, monitoring for procedures that involve use of sedation
or anesthesia, infection prevention and control, management of medications,
and patient education and training. Surveyors also conducted on-site observations
and interviews.
“While there were a few opportunities identified for improvement,
Health System leadership was congratulated on many best practices by the
surveyors,” said Gary R. Colberg, FACHE, president and CEO, Southeast
Georgia Health System. “It is the expertise of our team members
and the great care they provide, and the work we do here every day that
can be credited for a successful survey.”
Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission seeks to continuously improve health
care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating
health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe
and effective care of the highest quality and value. The standards, developed

and patients, address important functions relating to the care of patients
and the management of hospitals.
“The Joint Commission accreditation represents the highest health
care standards and demonstrates that we are committed to providing the
best quality patient care,” says Howard W. Sepp Jr., FACHE, vice
president and administrator, Camden Campus. “It’s a reflection
of the superior care our team members provide on a day-to-day basis.”
