
Feb. 26, 2015 —Breastfeeding: The Gift for Life continuing education
seminar for nursing professionals will take place Friday, April 17, at
the Miriam & Hugh Nunnally Maternity Care Center on the Southeast
Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus, 2415 Parkwood Drive. Community
members interested in learning more about breastfeeding may also attend
the event. The day will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. and will
conclude at 4:15 p.m. with evaluations.
The speaker for this year’s seminar is Nancy Mohrbacher, IBCLC (international
board-certified lactation consultant) FILA,(Fellow of the International
Lactation Consultant Association). Mohrbacher, a Chicago area resident,
began helping breastfeeding families as a volunteer in 1982 and became
board-certified as a lactation consultant in 1991. Mohrbacher is author of
Breastfeeding Answers Made Simple and its pocket guide edition, which are used by breastfeeding specialists
worldwide. She co-authored a book for parents,
Breastfeeding Made Simple, with Kathleen Kendall-Tackett. Her 2013 troubleshooting guide for mothers,
Breastfeeding Solutions, is now available as the Breastfeeding Solutions app for
android
and iPhones; her new book,
Working and Breastfeeding Made Simple, debuted in 2014.
In 2008, the International Lactation Consultant Association officially
recognized Mohrbacher’s contributions to the field of breastfeeding
by awarding her the designation FILCA, Fellow of the International Lactation
Consultant Association; she was one of the first of 16 to be recognized
for lifetime achievements in breastfeeding.
