Southeast Georgia Health System will host its first Community Health and
Wellness Fair on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the new
Brunswick High School, 3885 Altama Avenue. The event wraps up all the
Health System’s mini-health fairs, such as BONEtastic, SKINtastic,
Men’s Health and Heart Health, into one event. The fair will also
include many different educational opportunities and health screenings
for the entire family, as well as demonstrations, community vendors, children’s
activities, and a Cancer Survivor Celebration.
Health and Wellness Presentations – Physicians and team members from
Southeast Georgia Health System will make the following presentations
between 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
10 a.m. – "Advance Directives" presented by Christy Jordan,
R.N., J.D., director, Risk Management/Assistant General Counsel
10:15 a.m. – "Dealing with Daily Stress" presented by Liz
Bruno, MSN, director, Organizational Development
10:45 a.m. – "Healthy Eating" presented by Jackie Carr,
R.D., L.D., clinical nutrition manager
11 a.m. – "Drug Resistant Super Bugs" presented by Laura
Limburg, PharmD, coordinator, Pharmacy Clinical
11 a.m. – Healthy Cooking demonstration by Morrison Healthcare
11:30 a.m. – Zumba demonstration by St. Simons Health and Fitness
Club, LLC.
1:00 p.m. – Healthy Cooking demonstration by Morrison Healthcare
Cancer Survivors Celebration – In recognition of National Cancer
Survivors Day®, the Cancer Care Center will host a celebration of
cancer survivors, family members and friends 12:30-2 p.m. with entertainment
and a variety of speakers including oncology physicians and cancer survivors.
da Vinci® Robotic Surgery Exhibit – Attendees will be offered
a hands-on opportunity to test drive a full-size working model of the
da Vinci Surgical System used for minimally invasive robotic surgery.
Teddy Bear Clinic – Children can bring in one of their stuffed dolls
or animals to receive a check-up and some tender loving care for injuries,
such as missing buttons or tattered arms and legs. Health System team
members will also demonstrate a variety of medical treatments a child
may encounter while at the doctor’s office or hospital.
Car Seat Safety Checks – Certified child passenger safety technicians
from Safe Kids Kingsland will be set up in the parking lot to perform
safety checks on booster and infant car seats to determine if they are
correctly installed and appropriate for the age and size of the child.
Free Medication Review – Bring all your medication bottles, both
prescription and over-the-counter, in a brown bag. A pharmacist will be
on-hand to review and discuss your medications with you.

Low-Cost Screenings – Appointments required, results will be mailed
to participants..
Heart health screening – Includes an electrocardiogram (EKG) and
lipid profile for a cost of $25. Fasting (12 hours) required for the lipid

Mammograms – Requires a physician's order. Insurance is accepted
and financial assistance is available to patients who qualify. For an
