Southeast Georgia Health System and the Golden Isles YMCA are teaming up to offer the community a convenient, easily accessible Health Information Center and a new "Sports Smart" series.

Located in the YMCA, at 144 Scranton Connector in Brunswick, the Southeast Georgia Health System Health Information Center offers a wide range of medical and health education materials, such as diabetes, heart health, asthma, and more, as well as computers with online access to the Health System website and other health related sites.

The Health Information Center will also host a free monthly "Sports Smart" series, a drop-in question and answer session that allows attendees an opportunity to discuss sports health and injury prevention topics with a Health System certified athletic trainer. Sports Smart sessions are offered on the first Tuesday of each month, 4:30-7:30 p.m., with topics and presenters varying each month.

The first Sports Smart session, scheduled on Tuesday, April 1, and hosted by Becky Knor, M.S., ATC, PES, athletic trainer with the Health System Sports Medicine department, will feature the topic "Pre-Participation Evaluations (PPEs): A Parent’s Role."

The Health Information Center will be open to the public during all YMCA operating hours, which are Monday – Friday, 5:30 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, 1-5 p.m. The Golden Isles YMCA is located at 144 Scranton Connector in Brunswick.
